CodeCast, ComIT.org, and West Coast Foundation have joined forces to launch a tech-focused job-training initiative to create new opportunities and options for youth and career changers in Western Canada. Our first program started in Jan 2020 with 30 students in Vancouver and 5 on Vancouver Island. The pilot project is being delivered at The Network Hub’s locations in Vancouver and Nanaimo. We are exploring partnership possibilities of partnering with local organizations in rural cities to create virtual classrooms to deliver initiative in real-time.
With over 200 applications for 35 seats, we understand how important this initiative is so we are adding a second one for 2020. We spoke to local tech industry and they are looking for people with DevOps knowledge – which is why for our second intake – we will be teaching DevOps. Application begins now and class begins May 2020.
ComIT.org is a registered national charity providing free IT training to committed individuals who are underemployed or unemployed with a need to obtain employment in the short term. CodeCast is a streaming and recording platform for developer education. West Coast Foundation is the non-profit arm of The Network Hub, leveraging its spaces and member network to collectively give back to the community.
